Lashkar, Mirwaiz supports Geelani’s ‘Million March’

Lashkar, Mirwaiz supports Geelani’s ‘Million March’Lashkar-e-Toiba Chief, Mehbood Shah Sunday extended full support to the TRC Chalo call given by Hurriyat Conference (G) chairman, Syed Ali Geelani, stating that “people must ensure success of the rally to give a message that they want end of illegal occupation of Kashmir.”

In a statement issued here, Dr Abdullah Gaznavi, the LeT spokesman, while quoting the chief of the outfit, said they fully endorse and support the TRC Chalo call given by Geelani.

“Let people come out and clarify once again that they want end of illegal occupation of India,” he said.

He urged people of Kashmir to take a cue from the people of Afghanistan where “occupational forces were forced to leave the country.”

The Lashkar spokesman also hailed the huge participation of people in the funeral procession of slain Lashkar commander Abu Qasim stating that the movement would be taken to its logical conclusion soon.

Meanwhile, Gaznavi said the financial package to be announced by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Srinagar on November 7 is nothing but a deceit. “The way initial package, meant for flood victims, was spent on the election activities of BJP in Kashmir, same would happen once again,” he said.

The Hurriyat Conference (M) chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq Sunday said the conglomerate has decided to support ‘Million March’ called by Hurriyat Conference (G) chairman Syed Ali Geelani and also the ‘Civil Curfew’ called by Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front Chairman Muhammad Yasin Malik, on November 7.

“I got an invitation from Geelani on Saturday evening for my participation in the Million March and also for my support to it. It’s a welcome step,” Mirwaiz told Greater Kashmir. He said he consulted all pro-freedom parties of Hurriyat (M) on the issue.

“After consultation, we decided to support the Million March,” he said, adding, “Hurriyat (M) also supports the Civil Curfew call given by JKLF chairman Muhammad Yasin Malik in case the Million March is disallowed.”

“We appeal people of the state to join the Million March at TRC on November 7,” Mirwaiz said.

He appealed people to make the programme a success and “send a strong message to the people of India and the world that Kashmiris have not been offering sacrifices of their lives, their honour and their  material wealth for petty economic packages, but for noble cause of securing their fundamental right of self-determination promised to them at the United Nations.”

Mirwaiz said better coordination among pro-freedom groups after prior consultations and organizing of joint resistance programs is the need of the hour. “State-sponsored terrorism and use of excessive force on Kashmiri people and their leadership is touching new heights,” he said. “The successive governments in India and their “stooges” who run the show in Jammu and Kashmir have always mislead people of India and the world to make them believe that Kashmir struggle is some way an economic issue. But the fact is people are fighting for right to self-determination.”
