Geelani calls for Friday protestsHurriyat Conference (G) chairman, Syed Ali Geelani has called for peaceful protests after Friday payers against the killing of Gohwar Ahmad Dar and detentions of separatist leaders and activists across Kashmir valley.
Geelani appealed people to stage peaceful demonstrations across Kashmir as well as in Chenab Valley after Friday prayers against the killing of 22-year-old engineering student Gowhar who died after being injured by a teargas shell fired by paramilitary CRPF men during clashes in Zainakote area in the outskirts of Srinagar on November 7.
He also appealed religious preachers to strongly condemn the killing of Gowhar and asked clerics to raise their voice against the detentions of separatists during their Friday sermons.
Geelani said around 21 Hurriyat women activists have also been detained.
