Another class XII student forced to miss exam

Board of School Education ‘fails’ to provide hall ticket to her

Another class XII student forced to miss examIn the second incident in less than a week, another student from Baramulla district has alleged that she was disallowed to write her exams after the school authorities failed to provide her the hall ticket, saying it was misplaced by the board authorities.
Shabeena Ayub, a student of Class XII at Government Girls Higher Secondary School, Baramulla, said her name was in the list of students eligible for the annual exams, but she was made to wait by the school authorities for the roll number slip, which they said, was misplaced by the Board of School Education (BOSE).
“When she went to collect her roll number slip, she was told to come after some days as it had not arrived because it had got misplaced,” said girl’s brother Irfan Ahmad.
He said when she again went to collect her hall slip after three days, she was told to approach the BOSE office to get the matter solved. The board authorities failed to provide her the hall ticket as the exam was near, he added.
“Officials at BOSE also failed to provide the hall ticket. Then we again went to the school and they gave her an authorised letter, which was also signed by BOSE officials. She was allowed to write her exams, but when some board officials came to inspect the exam hall, they rejected the letter and said it cannot be used on behalf of the roll number slip,” said a relative of the student.
This is the second such incident in a week. Earlier, a student of Baramulla Public School was disallowed to write her exams after the school authorities denied her the roll number slip for failing to clear her dues, which was Rs 40,000.
The authorities at the Department of Education later came to her rescue and announced that they would hold a special exam for the girl.
Meanwhile, officials at Government Girls Higher Secondary School, Baramulla, said it was unfortunate on the part of the exam conducting body.
“Board officials did not send her the roll number slip. We had given her a letter that she is our student and should be allowed to sit in the exam. It is unfortunate that she missed her exam. She should be allowed to sit in the special exam,” said an official of the school.
