RSS has no role in polls: Dr Dawa
The war of words between Congress and BJP continues over LAHDC polls and both parties are trying to lure the voters.
BJP President Dr. Sonam Dawa said BJP is set to form the next council in Leh . He said BJP is a secular party and we have not talked anything on communal basis. He said, “RSS has no role in LAHDC Leh polls.”Talking about the voting powers for the nominated councillors he said the voting powers should sustain for the “nominated councillors”. Earlier BJP Minister for Cooperative Tsering Dorjay told media in Kargil that voting rights for the nominated councillors are “unconstitutional” and it should be scrapped.
Talking about the Union Territory for Ladakh region, Dawa once again claimed that the issue is their first agenda of polls. He said, “BJP always stands for UT status for Ladakh.”
“What Congress has given in to Ladakh in 70 years, they are now demanding the same from BJP in one year,” he added.
Dr Dawa rejected any kind of pre-poll and future alliance plan with the newly formed local party New Ladakh Movement (NLM) and said, “We will not go for any alliance if we do so then we will alliance with our state partner PDP.”
Responding to BJP president, Congress president Tsering Samphel while talking to us said, “BJP and RSS are the two sides of the same coin. RSS is the same organization which also attacked Buddhist community in Maharashtra in the name of Ghar-Wapsi..
He said, “How can BJP say that they can form next council while they lied to the people during Lok Sabha elections and people responded then in the Assembly polls”.
Samphel said the divisive politics of BJP and RSS is harmful for secular society like ladakh.
Talking about Union Territory he said, “Leh Congress is supporting UT while considering local sentiments while BJP has announced publicly to give UT for Ladakh,” he said.
Analysts say that compensation for flood effected people, beef ban, unemployment, electricity, road and telecommunication remain the core issues during election campaign.
