As rumours about change of guard gripped J&K amid reports that Chief Minister Mufti Muhammad Sayeed is not keeping well and wants to replace himself with his daughter, Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) National General Secretary Ram Madhav Monday said that there is no question of changing the Chief Minister in the State.
“There is no question of change of Chief Minister in J&K,” Madhav told us in reply to a question. “When there is no question, how come BJP will know it?”
The BJP National General Secretary said that coalition government was running smoothly. “There is no problem and the government is functioning properly,” he said, adding that coalition partners are making every effort for the development of J&K.
Pertinently, rumours are doing rounds about the change of guard in J&K. Chief Minister Mufti Muhammad Sayeed is reportedly not keeping well for last several weeks and has been out of the State from quite some time to consult doctors.
A BJP insider said that during the recently held BJP-PDP coordination committee meeting chaired by Deputy Chief Minister Nirmal Singh and attended by PDP president Mehbooba Mufti, the issue related to CM’s health came into discussion. “Mehbooba informed the participants about the ill health of Mufti. Most of the ministers visited Mufti later that evening,” sources said.
Madhav also said that BJP would stick to its position on Article 370 as stated in the Agenda of Alliance. “Nothing can be done outside the Agenda of Alliance.”
