Hurriyat Conference (G) today strongly condemned, what it said, the venomous propaganda unleashed by the RSS and its partners against Muslims.
“The hue and cry raised by the RSS and its allied communal and fascist partners over the increase in the population of Muslims in India is meaningless and reflection of their frustration,” a Hurriyat spokesman said, adding the issue came up for discussion at a meeting of amalgam central advisory council with general secretary Ghulam Nabi Sumji in chair.
The central advisory council members on the occasion expressed grave concern over the continued house detention of Hurriyat chairman Syed Ali Geelani, terming it ‘illegal and unjustified’.
“In fact the government of India and its local agents are so-scared of Geelani that they prefer him to be always in cage. On one hand the state police doesn’t allow Geelani Sahib to come out of his residence and, on the other, they are officially denying the imprisonment of the pro-freedom leader. The long and continuous house imprisonment is affecting his health. The state government is disrespecting its own laws with regard to prisoners. The court issues release orders for a prisoner but the police, in violation of these orders, continue to keep him behind the bars,” the members said, condemning the ‘sabotaging’ of peaceful political programmes by police by using ‘brutal and extreme’ force.
Condemning the ‘crackdown’ on the common people especially the youths and students everywhere in the state, the members alleged that the government was playing a very dangerous game and pushing the people to the wall.
