Villagers living near border in Jammu and Kashmir called for immediate government action to put halt to Pakistani firing and shelling. Since August 14, when Pakistan celebrated its Independence Day, there has been an escalation of tension along the Line of Control (LoC) – a ceasefire line dividing Kashmir between India and Pakistan. Mohammad Latif, a resident of Uri in Kashmir, said that the two countries should resolve disputed mattes with immediate effect. Another resident Abdul Rashid called on the politicians to ensure peace in Kashmir valley.
