Panun Kashmir on Sunday said political alignment between BJP and PDP in Jammu and Kashmir does not seem to have augured well for the state, and accused the alliance of having failed to trigger any cohesion towards serving the nation.
The speakers at a seminar organised by Panun Kashmir, an organisation of the displaced Kashmiri Pandit community, made the observation that this “union of opposites” has failed to trigger any cohesion towards serving the nation.
On the contrary, politics and governance in the state in the last six months have unleashed developments with serious implications on national security and integration of the state, Panun Kashmir said in a statement.
“The nationalist constituency in the state is being marginalised and the separatist pro-Pakistan elements seem on the ascendance… In addition, ceasefire violations along the LoC and IB have increased manifold,” the organisation said.
Panun Kashmir president Ajay Chrungoo criticised the ‘Agenda of Alliance of PDP-BJP Coalition’.
“The agenda is in fact a commitment of BJP to hostage the mandate it got in Jammu to PDP so that the vision of the latter is imposed on the state,” he said.
He said that it was during the NDA regime led by Atal Bihari Vajpayee that concepts of porous borders, shared sovereignty for J&K, joint management and demilitarisation became “respectable” concepts to be incorporated into the national policy.
