Continuing its crackdown on separatist leaders, police on Wednesday placed Hurriyat (M) chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq under house detention. A heavy contingent of police arrived at the Nigeen residence of the Mirwaiz and informed him of his detention, said a spokesman. He added that media advisor of the Mirwaiz, Advocate Shahid ul Islam was also placed under house arrest while another leader Abdul Manan Bukhari was detained at Nowgam police station.
