Fresh snowfall was recorded in the higher reaches of Kashmir while the plains received rains, even as the mercury stayed above the freezing point at most places in the Valley. According to an official of the Met Department, fresh snowfall was recorded in the higher reaches of the Valley, including Gulmarg, Pahalgam and Kupwara. Mercury rises by few notches in Kashmir

Mercury stayed above the freezing point across Kashmir, barring Gulmarg and Pahalgam towns, while the weather is expected to remain mainly dry for the next few days. This south Kashmir town observed a complete shutdown for the fifth consecutive day on Monday as Police did not allow youth to set up a memorial at Shaheed park here to pay homage to the militants who died in a gunfight with forces last week.
