J&K has highest 2106 high-altitude lakes in India: Shah
Owing to its extensive promotional tourism campaign, J&K tourism department has been conferred with “Best Promoted Destination” and “Best Decorated Stall” awards at the concluding function of 3-day Indian International Trade Mart (IITM) at Hotel Grand Hayat, Kolkata.
The IITM organizers appreciated the efforts of J&K tourism department for its promotional campaigns not only in IITM but through other platforms at national and international level.
During the 3-day IITM, the department organized “J&K Evening” where over 200 travel agents besides media persons participated.
Principal Secretary Tourism J&K Government Sandeep Nayak and Director Tourism Kashmir Mahmood A Shah highlighted the tourism potential of all regions of the state viz; Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh through a beautiful video and pictorial presentation. The department of tourism also made its strong presence at ‘Founder’s Day’ meet organized by Himalayan Club of Kolkata in which 200 adventure lovers mostly climbers took part.
Mahmood Shah in his presentation showcased the J&K’s potential in adventure tourism especially in hiking and trekking.
The presentation exhibited the high-altitude lakes available in Kashmir.
“We have 2106 high-altitude lakes where mountaineers and climbers can explore the natural beauty. This is the highest number of high-altitude lakes present in any state in the country,” said Shah. He also highlighted state’s leisure, pilgrim, heritage, culture, MICE and golf tourism.
“All the three regions of the State have distinctive features. Jammu is famous for pilgrimage, Kashmir for leisure and Ladakh for adventure tourism and the department offers package for all tourists,” said Director Tourism Kashmir.
The participants were overwhelmed with the J&K’s potential in adventure tourism and assured that they would promote these lakes among adventure lovers.
Later, during the concluding ceremony, Principal Secretary Tourism, Sandeep Nayak and Director Tourism Kashmir, Mahmood A Shah were given mementoes.
