Massive protests erupted in north Kashmir’s Bandipora district on Monday over alleged torture of four persons, including a mother-son duo by army.
While the mother-son duo was being treated for injuries at District Hospital Bandipora, two more injured are being shifted to the hospital, police said.
An official said that Army’s 14 RR launched a search operation in Zabn Gujjar Basti in Chuntimulla area of the district in wee hours today.
“During the operation, they allegedly tortured three persons, including a woman,” he said on the condition of anonymity as he was not authorized to speak to press on the issue.
A local said that the mother-son duo badly injured due to torture was carried on the shoulders to Bandipora District hospital as the village doesn’t have a motorable road connectivity.
He said two more injured due to torture are on the way to the hospital.
The injured mother-son duo staged a dharna outside the Deputy Commissioner’s Office in the town before being shifted to the hospital.
The news spread in the town, trigerring aassive protests with people shouting anti-army slogans after people .
The protesters were demanding stringent action against the guilty personnel.
