- Traffic advisory issued for Adnan’s concert
Police have put in place tight security measures for the musical concert of Adnan Sami which is scheduled to be held at SKICC on Saturday.
“There would be adequate security arrangements for the show. There would be area domination and deployment of forces for law and order,” said a police officer. Inspector General of police Kashmir, Munir Ahmad Khan, told Kashmir Post that all security arrangements are in place for the concert.
“Adequate security measures have been put in place for the concert,’’ Khan said.
The government has also appointed 100 liaison officers in connection with musical concert.
A large number of people including senior government functionaries are expected to attended the concert.
As per the directions issued by the general administration department (GAD), officers of the rank of special secretaries and the under secretaries have been appointed as liaison officers.
“The officers are appointed as liaison officers for the dignitaries including VVIPs/VIPs, in connection with the musical concert by Adnan Sami,’’ read a government order.
On Friday Sami interacted with local artists at hotel Taj Vivanta. During the interaction, Sami shared experiences from his music journey and life with the artists, besides reflecting upon the “art and music and their scope in traversing through space and time.”
He said that “language of art is a form of communication that transcends all differences created by humans, and reaches above hate to spread a message of peace and harmony.’’
Speaking about his experiences of visiting J&K, Sami said “this region hosts a rich culture which has art woven in its roots.”
“The mysticism and Sufism found in Kashmir will continue to inspire me and influence my music so that I can produce rich melodies,” he added.
The local artists spoke with Adnan Sami about his music, “melodies, present scenario of music in the country, the visible shift from melodies to the westernized genre and about his upcoming concert in the valley.”
The artists also thanked Adnan Sami for performing at this concert saying that this “concert will go a long way in motivating youth in exploring their passions in arts and moving forward to shaping their passions into professions.”
Marveling at the plethora of talent present in Kashmir, Sami said that this region has produced brilliant writers, poets and artists whose works are lauded worldwide and has inspired many people globally.
Besides director tourism Kashmir Mahmood Shah and secretary JKAACL Aziz Hajini, prominent local artists including Tariq Javed, Wahid Geelani, Aiyash Arif, Muneer Ahmad Mir, Zameer Ashaye, Gulzar Ganaie were present at the interaction.
Meanwhile, The Traffic Police Department has issued an advisory, asking residents of Shalimar, Nishat, Harwan and adjoining areas to avoid travelling after 4 pm on Saturday – an hour before Adnan Sami’s concert at the SKICC here.
The department has charted a roadmap, which will be effective from 4 pm tomorrow till the conclusion of the event. The ‘Rhythm in Paradise’ concert is set to begin at 5 pm.
“All residents of Shalimar, Nishat, Harwan and its adjacent areas are requested to adopt Badyari Chowk, Rainawari, Hazratbal, Foreshore route and avoid travelling after 4 pm on Saturday till the conclusion of the event,” the advisory signed by SSP Traffic City read.
The traffic plan, which has been criticised by many residents, is part of the elaborate arrangements made for the concert of singer and pianist Adnan Sami. The concert is being organised by the Tourism Department with an aim to “boost tourism in the Valley”.
The Traffic Department said it was blocking the civilian traffic along Boulevard Road for several hours on Saturday evening to avoid traffic jams during the concert.
“All types of vehicles, except invitees, shall be diverted at Ram Munshi-Bagh towards Dalgate. All sort of vehicular movement, except tourist vehicles, shall be diverted at Badyari Chowk towards Khanyar to reach their destinations. Tourist vehicles (and) residents shall only be allowed to ply up to Nehru Park only,” the advisory read.
The advisory said no vehicle, except that of invitees, shall be allowed to move from Grand Lalit Boulevard Road towards SKICC. “All the passenger and LMV vehicles shall be diverted at Nishat via Foreshore Road towards Hazratbal,” it said.
“All type of vehicles coming from Zakoora-Pandach and Hazratbal shall adopt Rainawari towards Lal Chowk,” it added.
