The killing of seven Amarnath pilgrims by militants yesterday in Kashmir evoked widespread condemnation in Jammu with various social organizations, civil society and political parties demanding stern and decisive action to end militancy.
JPPF urged the centre to act strongly against the anti-national elements and take decisive action to end militancy. JPPF also held a protest demonstration. JPPF President, Pavittar Singh Bharjwaj said it is high time that the anti-national elements including separatists are charged with the murder of the innocent yatries.
The members demanded compensation for the deceased. A two minutes silence was observed with prayer to almighty to bestow peace to the departed souls.
Working president, MS Katoch, Avinash Bhatia, Ch Kamal Singh, ML Sharma, Suneeta Sharma, Preeti Chowdhari, Prof OP Sharma, Pritam Sharma, Rajesh Thakur, PS Slathia, Kuldip Sharma, Pawan Sharma, Romit Mehra, Balbir Kumar, Vikram Kumar, Nirmal Singh Jamwal, Darshan Singh Bhatia, Ajitsingh Adyal and others participated in the protest.
State president, Shri Ram Sena, Rajiv Mahajan also strongly condemned the dastardly attack by terrorists on Shri Amarnath pilgrims.
Jammu Regional Committee of CPI (M) also strongly condemned the attack.
Sham Prasad Kesar, regional secretary of the party, has expressed sympathies with the families of victims.
Former minister and senior Congress leader RS Chib expressed shock and anguish over the killing of yatries and described it most barbaric, cowardly and heinous act against the innocent human beings.
Similarly, Kashmiri Pandit Sangarash Samiti (KPSS) also condemned the inhuman act of unidentified gunmen who killed seven Amaranth Yatries and injured more than a dozen of them. The brutal attack on the religious pilgrims is aimed at creating chaos among the minds of minorities living in Kashmir Valley and overall majority community living in India that Kashmir is no more a safe for them, KPSS said in a press note.
Jammu and Kashmir National Panthers Party (JKNPP) held meeting in Jammu, New Delhi and other places and condemned the militant attack on yatries.
The party workers prayed to the Almighty to grant peace to the departed souls and courage to the bereaved families to bear the irreparable loss.
Panthers Party held a meeting at Jantar Mantar, New Delhi, where several political and social activists participated and condemned the killings of yatries.
Prof. Bhim Singh, chief patron of the party who chaired the meeting at Jantar Mantar, demanded Governor’s Rule in Jammu and Kashmir.
Panthers Party held meetings at Patna, Jaipur Lucknow, Kolkata, Dehradun and Chandigarh to condemn the attack.
Similarly, Dogra Sadar Sabha (DSS) also held a meeting of its core group and members of the All Jammu Civil Society Forum (AJCSF) to discuss the deteriorating situation of Kashmir Valley and the dastardly murderous attack on the Shri Amarnathji pilgrims.
Th. Gulchain Singh Charak strongly condemned the cowardly act of killing pilgrims.
“How and why an unguarded single bus was allowed to move without protection, after the scheduled convoy timings through a highly sensitive area despite apprehensions of a terror strike?” Charak questioned.
Col Dr Virendra Sahi said that it was time for all nationalist forces to synergize and consolidate against the terrorists and their wicked sponsors, sympathizers and OGWs who shelter them.

The jihadi terror act has been carried out at the behest of our enemy nation who is bent upon promoting unrest in the valley, he said. The members of civil society representing different sections today held a meeting at Diwan Mandir along with BJP vice president Yudhvir Sethi and expressed their grave concern and anguish over militant attack on pilgrims.
Yudhvir Sethi and other members prayed for peace to the departed souls by lighting candles and said that this is nothing but an act of frustration by militants.

Similarly, Jat Kalyan Sabha also condemned terrorist attack on Amarnath Pilgrims.
Ch Kamal Singh, state president of the Sabha condemned the terrorist attack on the innocent Amarnath pilgrims and appealed the people of Jammu and Kashmir to maintain communal harmony.
He demanded sufficient compensation for the deceased and wished early recovery of the injured.
The leaders and activists of Shri Amarnath Yatra Welfare Society (SAYWS) led by Kiran Wattal, Raju Chandel and saint Dinesh Bharti today staged a protest demonstration against the attack on Amarnath pilgrims.
The protesters burnt the effigy of Pakistan to show their resentment against the barbaric act.
Kiran Wattal said, “Our organization strongly condemns the brutal attack on innocent pilgrims”.
“What makes the day more poignant is the fact that while human rights of innocent pilgrims are violated, the protectors of human rights in India maintain silence over the incidents of Pak sponsored terrorism. The human rights brigade stands exposed,” he maintained.
Kuldeep Luthra, Prem Sharma, A K Pandita Brig Anil Gupta, Ghulam Ahmad Tantray, Shamima Bano, Bashir Ahmad, Danish Bharti, Prem ji, Anil Gupta, Ashok Sharma, Ashwani Kumar, Ajay Sharma and others were also present on the occasion.
The activists of Team Jammu led by Zorawar Singh Jamwal also held a protest demonstration against brutal killing of yatries.
The protesters passed through different bazaars of the city amid shouting of anti-government and anti-Pakistan slogans.
Zorawar said that attack on Amarnath Yatries has exposed the so-called security arrangements.
The Panther Party activists led by Harsh Dev Singh and Yash Paul Kundal staged a protest demonstration at Dogra Chowk Jammu. The protestors raised slogans against the government. Harsh Dev said that there were no signs of government on the ground in the state and the coward act of had exposed the communal character of the secessionist forces and subversives operating in Kashmir.
Singh urged upon the Governor of J&K to immediately invoke section 92 of the State’s constitution to dissolve the Assembly and impose Governor Rule in the state to save it from further anarchy, death and destruction.

Jammu West Assembly Movement also took out a strong protest rally against the killings of yatries and burnt the effigies of Pakistan and militants.
Dimple demanded from the Prime Minister Narinder Modi to take tough action against Pakistan and militancy.

Media XI Cricket club Jammu also strongly condemned the attack on innocent Amarnath yatries.
In a statement issued here, Mir Imran skipper of Media XI Cricket Club Jammu said that attack on innocent pilgrims is act of cowardice and against human values.
Joining the nation to pray for departure souls, Imran said that attack is against humanity and those involved in such inhuman act should be given strong punishment. This incident is all against the age old traditional and cultural values of the state.
The entire Team also observed 2 minute silence and prayed for peace to the departed souls and speedy recovery of the injured.
Lok Janshakti Party Yuva wing also strongly condemned the brutal terror attack on the innocent Amarnath yatries. In a meeting held here under the state president of LJYP, Vineet Karihullo, the members urged the centre to act strongly against the anti-national elements.
Public Opinion Forum (POF), in a meeting held today also condemned the cowardice act of the militants, who killed six innocent pilgrims.
