Machinery Meddling: Mufti Accuses Govt of Managing Votes Through Officer Pressure

PDP President Mehbooba Mufti today alleged that the government missionary is exerting pressure on officers to manage votes for a particular party which is their proxy despite knowing that they will perform badly in the elections.

She also termed some negligence in security arrangements in context with twin target attacks in Kashmir areas recently.

Mehbooba Mufti was addressing a press conference in Rajouri during the Lok Sabha election campaign. ” Everyone remembers 1987 election rigging that was done on the day of elections,” she said adding that the timing of Union Home Minister’s recent visit in Kashmir was quite “odd”.” It is unfortunate to learn that government machinery is pressurising employees to garner votes for a particular political party which is theirs (BJPs) proxy,” she said adding that BJP is, however, aware that this proxy will perform badly in elections.

” Officers are being warned to move on their lines else they will be punished through odd postings,” she alleged.

President PDP, who is also a contesting candidate from Anantnag -Rajouri parliamentary seat, also raised concern on recent twin attacks in Heerpora and Pahalgam. She said that the attacks took place just after HM’s visit and in the areas where election process is going on.
