Omar Abdullah Questions LG Administration: 'Who Are the Homeless in J&K?'

National Conference Vice-President and former chief minister J&K Omar Abdullah on Thursday questioned Lieutenant Governor led administration over ‘Land for Landless’ issue and asked them to come clean who are homeless in J&K and how they are being categorized.

“Government should first clear the doubts who are homeless, and how they are categorising them. Are you counting those homeless as well who came here just a week ago,” Omar Abdullah said during his visit to Central Kashmir’s Budgam. Omar visited Choon Budgam earlier in the day to enquire health conditions of Abdul Ahad Dar.

Talking to media the former CM said that LG administration should look whom they are going to give accomodation on Kah Charai land and those who came here after 370 should not be included. “The administration should first verify who are homeless in J&K and then after the orders should come. Are you counting those people homeless as well who came in J&K just a week ago. I think those came to Kashmir after 2019 shouldn’t be included in the scheme. We know the government has brought huge number of outsiders in J&K after August 2019,” Omar Abdullah said.

Replying to a query on plans of imposing Uniform Civil Code by BJP, he said the NC will never support those bills which will harm minority community in the country.

On hearing Article 370 by Supreme Court in the upcoming days, the former CM J&K said the proceedings cannot happen overnight. “First SC have to issue notices to the Government and then proceedings will be taken up. There are 2 MPs from National Conference who are it’s petitioners. We will put forth our argument and try to get justice for the people of J&K.
