Demanding separate PM will force us to scrap Art 370, 35A: Rajnath Singh

Home Minister Rajnath Singh on Monday said the Centre would be left with no option but to scrap Article 370 and Article 35A as the Valley politicians were demanding a separate Prime Minister for Jammu and Kashmir.

Speaking at a rally at Badyal Kaaziyan near the International Border in Suchetgarh, Rajnath said as the Home Minister he had tried his best to reach out to the people in Kashmir.

“I was open to dialogue with the separatists as well and had asked the then Chief Minister also to talk to the people, but to no avail,” the Home Minister said.

He said if people in Kashmir would be provoked by Valley-centric leaders for the demand for a separate Prime Minister, enough would be enough. “We will be left with no option. Article 370 as well Article 35A will be scrapped,” said the Home Minister.

Rajnath was reacting to National Conference (NC) leader Omar Abdullah’s statement of restoring autonomy of Jammu and Kashmirthat could include having a Sadr-e-Riyasat (President) and Wazir-e-Azam (Prime Minister).
