Hoteliers from across Kashmir pledge to counter negative publicity

The J&K Hoteliers’ Club held its quarterly extraordinary general meeting here at Vivanta by Taj, where the members passed a resolution to ‘safeguard Kashmir tourism from negative publicity’.
“The club passed the resolution to put all its efforts to stop negative publicity by the national media at all forums. It decided to call upon the national print and electronic media heads to safeguard Kashmir tourism from negative publicity,” a statement issued by the club here on Friday said.
It said the members of the club, including Gulmarg, Sonamarg, Pahalgam, Kargil and Leh chapters, were present.
“The members hailed the club chairman, Mushtaq Chaya, for achieving success for the long-pending demand of the hotel industry to get power tariff at par with industries. The chairman said the club worked very hard to get industrial benefits for the hotel sector and finally got it done,” the statement said.
Chaya said the club had also approached Finance Minister Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari and J&K Bank chairman for getting rebate in the bank interest loan. The club decided to hold a meeting with Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti besides the Tourism Minister for repairs and renovations of hotels at boulevard as ‘hotel industry needs day-to-day upgrade’.
Meanwhile, club secretary general Tariq Rashid Ghani hailed Gulmarg president Mukhtar A Shah for the ‘massive plantation drive and cleanness of Gulmarg’, Sonamarg president Farooq A Hafiz for macadamisation and Pahalgam chapter president Imad Rafi Mir for the successful winter festival held there.
