Mehbooba Mufti snubs BJP, vows to carry forward peace agenda

Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti said today that the government would initiate dialogue with all stakeholders on the Kashmir issue. She out rightly rejected its coalition partner BJP’s stand that no talks should be initiated at this point of time.
In a written reply to a question by Ali Mohammad Sagar, NC member, the CM, who is the in charge of the Home Department, said initiating dialogue with all stakeholders was clearly mentioned in the Agenda of Alliance of the coalition government.
She said the Centrehad recently taken several steps to normalise relationship with Pakistan. “The coalition government will support and strengthen the initiatives taken by the Centre to create an atmosphere of reconciliation.”
“The same will be pursued by taking confidence building measures, such as enhancing people-to-people contact on both the sides of the LoC and encouraging cross-border trade,” the CM stated.
After the recent skirmishes on the border, especially after the killing of four soldiers on the LoC, the BJP has taken a tough stand against Pakistan. The party has favoured giving a befitting reply to the country.
She said earlier, the NDA government led by Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee had initiated a dialogue process with all political groups, including the Hurriyat Conference.
