CVPP awards Pakul Dhul Power Project civil works to Afcon JAL JV

Chenab Valley Power Project Ltd (CVPP) has awarded the civil works constructions of power house of 1000-MW Pakul Dul Hydro Electric Power Project being built on Chenab River in Kishtwar to a Afcons Infrastructure of Mumbai based Shapoorji Pallonji Group, along with its joint venture partner Jaiprakash Associates Limited (JAL) at a cost of Rs 1,051 crore, a spokesperson of CVPP said today.
JVCC is a public sector undertaking formed as a joint venture by J&K Government and Centre Government for execution of power projects on Chenab River Basin.
Letter of acceptance has been issued by CVPP to M/s AFCONS JAL JV and the work is scheduled to be completed in 58 months, the spokesperson said. He said the construction work of approach road for various components of the project as well as MAT Portal of the power house are already in progress.
1000-MW Pakal Dul HE Project is part of the Prime Minister’s Development Package (PMDP) for J&K and its implementation will lead to overall development of the area.
CVPP is a joint venture company formed between JKSPDC, NHPC and PTC India with 49 percent, 49 percent and 2 percent share respectively for harnessing hydro power potential of Chenab River Basin. Jammu and Kashmir Government has already extended various concessions to the Pakal Dul HE Project, while centre has also sanctioned Rs 2500 crore sub-ordinate loan for Pakal Dul HE Project, besides equity contribution of JKSPDC in the project. NHPC is extending technical support to the Company for tendering of the projects as well as for designing the project components besides deputing experienced manpower required for construction of the Projects.
