Akhtar’s participation in BJP meet as proof north, south poles have merged: NC

Opposition National Conference Monday expressed shock over the participation of PDP spokesperson and Works Minister Naeem Akhtar’s participation in BJP’s executive meet in Srinagar and demanded that the party come out with an explanation.
NC Provincial President Nasir Aslam Wani said participation of PDP leader in a high level BJP meet was a clear sign that PDP and BJP had the same agenda in Jammu and Kashmir.
“Executive body meetings are not part of governance decision making. These are policy making occasions for the party. Akhtar being part of this meeting was not just shocking, but questionable too,” he said.
Alleging that PDP had merged with BJP, Wani said, “Looking at the way two parties are now having a joint executive body meeting in Kashmir, the north pole and south pole have not just met but undoubtedly merged”.
He said people of Kashmir want to know what senior PDP leader was doing at the BJP policy meeting. “Are they (PDP) taking dictations from BJP? Or are they helping the saffron brigade to spread its tentacles better over J&K?”.
Terming the alliance of PDP-BJP result of “well devised strategy” to change the political discourse and expression of the state, Wani said in last three years, state has seen how the ruling alliance had made dilution of state’s special status its one point agenda.
“Article 35A, Article 370, Beef Ban, GST… the list goes on. The ruling alliance was forged to make us surrender to the vehemently aggressive saffronisation of India,” he said.
Meanwhile, NC General Secretary Ali Mohammad Sagar today extended gratitude to party delegates and other invitees for making the Delegate Session 2017 a resounding success by participating in massive numbers.
“The re-election of Farooq Abdullah as the party president is the culmination of our internal party elections, which started over a year ago. The significant process of elections reflected in the massive and all encompassive participation from the entire three regions of the state to everybody satisfaction. Everyone from the grass root worker to the top leadership was taken on board to decide the future course of the party, the only true representative of the people of J&K and their aspirations,” he said.
