104th Consecutive day of Shutdown across Kashmir

A complete shutdown is being observed across the Kashmir valley for the consecutive 104th day today.
However, there was an increased movement of private cars and auto-rickshaws in the civil lines area and around the Lal Chowk in Srinagar.

Shops and other business establishments are closed in Srinagar and elsewhere.
The ongoing unrest in Kashmir has affected the education as schools, colleges and other institutions continued to remain shut in the Valley.
The government has decided to hold board examinations as per the schedule next month, drawing criticism from students and parents who accused it of being insensitive to lack of academic activity due to unrest.

The unrest, which began a day after Hizbul Mujahideen Commander Burhan Wani was killed in an encounter in south Kashmir on July 8, has left 94 people dead and several thousand injured, including cops, injured.
Over 9000 people, mostly youths, have been arrested in one of the biggest crackdowns in Kashmir history during past three months to break the uprising.
Over 300 persons have been booked under Public Safety Act (PSA).
