How can PDP ally with communal forces like BJP, asks AzharuddinFormer cricketer-turned-politician Mohammad Azharuddin today questioned Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) alliance with the right wing Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) while campaigning for Congress candidate in Anantnag Hilal Ahmad Shah.
Addressing a roadshow here, Azhar said, “How can a Muslim party (PDP) ally with fascist and communal forces like BJP and the RSS, I completely fail to understand it.”
Azhar, Shah and several other Congress leaders organised many roadshows in villages located on the periphery of Anantnag town, including Dantar, Dialgam, Fateh Garh, Kabamarg, Ruh and Monghall.
Seeking votes for the Congress in the bypoll, Azhar told people that voting for the PDP would amount to voting for the BJP and RSS.
Azhar told the gatherings that he had come to the Valley after 30 years. He said that he came in 1986 when he represented India in a cricket match against West Indies. India had lost the match.
Promising the people that he would visit again and play a cricket match with the youths, Azhar said, “But you will have to vote for Shah and make him win the elections.”
Recently, famous Bollywood actor Raj Babbar had also campaigned for Hilal Shah in Anantnag where the bypoll has been necessitated due to the death of Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed. Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti, Shah and six other candidates are in the fray here.
