Congress keen to share power with the PDP after demise of Mufti Sayeed
While the Congress is trying to share power with the PDP and in this connection Ghulam Nabi Azad,leader of the Congress in the Rajya Sabha,is said to be playing a vital role in forging an alliance between the Congress and the PDP.
Reports said that Congress Chief,Sonia Gandhi,is visiting Kashmir to pay her homage to Mufti Sayeed and in between she will have a detailed discussion with Mehbooba Mufti who is expected to take over as Chief Minister on Monday.
On the other hand the BJP has already announced its support to Mehbooba”s candidature for the post of Chief Minister in order to hoodwinking the Congress.Reports from New Delhi said that the BJP high
command is keen to retain the party’s alliance with the BJP which would promote regional balance.The party high command has turned down the demand of the state unit of the BJP for keeping the CM’s post as rotational and its demand for greater share in the council of ministers.The BJP high command does not want the state unit of the BJP to lay any precondition which could allow the Congress to forge an
alliance with the PDP.
Another report said that since Mehbooba was forced to have a rethink on the support the Congress was ready to give she opted for some time before she took over as Chief Minister.Mehbooba is said to have been told that forging an alliance with the Congress would be major deviation from the policy of her father who had agreed to share power with the BJP for promoting regional balance and for ensuring economic development which could be possible through liberal financial assistance from the BJP led NDA Government.
