Boys break top rank jinx but girls dominate merit list in Class 10 results

• Tabish Manzoor of Anantnag secures first position 
• Nearly 400 students share first 20 positions
• Private schools fare better than govt institutes 
The class 10 annual results were declared here Sunday with nearly 400 candidates sharing the first 20 positions.
Boys break top rank jinx but girls dominate merit list in Class 10 resultsUnlike the trend of past many years, the first position has been secured by a boy, Tabish Manzoor Khan of Radiant Public School, Anantnag. Tabish has topped the merit list, scoring 498 marks out of 500 (99.6 percent). However, girls continued to dominate the position tally in the merit list.
The second and third positions were secured by Aneesa Haleem of Mallinson Girls School, Srinagar and Hiba Intikhab of Shah-e-Hamdan Memorial School, Shopian scoring 491 (98.20%) and 490 (98%) marks respectively.
According to Board of School Education (JKBOSE), which conducted the examination, 35430 candidates out of 60819 qualified the exams with overall pass percentage of 65.27 percent, nearly seven percent less than the last year. The pass percentage among boys is 67.28 percent while 63.04 percent of the girls have qualified the exams.
The overall pass percentage of government school students is 50.46 percent with 14716 candidates declared passed out of 29162. Private schools continue to fare better with 24981 students passing out of 31657 registering pass percentage of 78.91 percent.
Last year the first 20 positions were shared by 182 students.
