Minister for Transport Abdul Ghani Kohli today said the Prime Minister’s Rs 80,000 crore reconstruction plan would expand and improve road connectivity in the state, especially in the remote areas like Poonch and Rajouri.
PM’s package will boost road connectivity, says KohliAddressing a series of public meetings in Budhal and Khwas areas of Rajouri district, Kohli said out of the Rs 80,000 crore package, Rs 5,000 crore had been earmarked for upgrade of the Jammu-Poonch road, which would boost the economy of the twin border districts of Rajouri and Poonch.
He said a tunnel on the Mughal Road was being constructed in the state to provide all-weather connectivity to Poonch and Rajouri with the Kashmir valley. The minister was accompanied by Member of Parliament Jugal Kishore Sharma.
Kohli said a massive road upgrade programme was presently being executed by the R&B Department in Rajouri, under which Siot-Kalakote, Kotranka-Khwas and Kotranka-Budhal roads had been black-topped.
He said providing connectivity to unconnected areas via better and well-maintained roads was high on the agenda of the government. He urged people to extend full cooperation to executing agencies in the completion of development projects.
