War of words in BJP intensifies

Hari Om hits back at state affairs in charge Khanna

The war of words between BJP leaders has intensified with former ideologue Prof Hari Om today hitting back at national vice-president Avinash Rai Khanna for “ignoring the wishes and aspirations of people of Jammu region”.

State BJP affairs in charge Khanna lambasted Hari Om two days back for giving “communal, divisive and disturbing” statements and playing a “dirty role” by using the party’s name.

“Being an outsider, Khanna, unfortunately, does not know anything about the state, political aspirations, needs and compulsions of suppressed, persecuted, neglected and marginalised people of Jammu and political history of struggles in Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh,” Hari Om said in in a hard-hitting statement.

Hari Om, who till recently was the political adviser to the state BJP president, said the suffering people of Jammu province had not given the mandate to any leader from outside to speak for them or on their behalf and they were masters of their own destiny.

“People of Jammu will decide their fate and, that too, within India and under the Indian Constitution. Article 370 empowers Valley leaders to exercise unbridled legislative, executive and financial powers and denies people of the state the rights given to their counterparts in the rest of the country,” he said.

Taking a dig at Khanna, he reminded him that the election manifestos of the BJP in 2002 and 2008 talked about reorganisation and trifurcation of the state and vouched for a dispensation for Jammu that was invested with adequate administrative and financial powers.
