Chairman of Hurriyat Conference (G), Syed Ali Geelani on Sunday cautioned that if the communal forces enforced any type of economic blockade to Kashmir, a public movement will be started against it.
Geelani was reacting to the economic blockade threat by the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP).
“Economic blockade of Kashmir will have very serious consequences and the situation will be out of control for everybody. I want to caution that if the communal forces enforce any type of economic blockade to Kashmir, a public movement will be started against that and the people will protest on roads. They will also aware the international community about the serious situation of Kashmir,” Geelani said in a statement.
He added, “all the natural routes of Kashmir connecting it with the outer world have been taken over by the Indian forces. And now the communal and fascist forces want to shut this temporary road too which connects Kashmir with India.”
“Economic blockade of Kashmir will create serious situation here and the people of Kashmir will heavily suffer due to lack of food items and medicines. The policy makers of India and its allied communal groups have nothing to do with the miseries of Kashmiri people. They are only interested in the land of Jammu and Kashmir and nothing else,” he said.
“The BJP-supported coalition government has brought miseries and difficulties for the Muslim majority population of Jammu and Kashmir and they are being harassed and abused in every possible ways,” he added.
