Artists mesmerise audience with Dolwal’s poetry
Popular artistes mesmerised audience at Badamwari on Sunday through their renderings of the poetry of noted Kashmiri poet, Ghulam Nabi Dolwal.
Popular Kashmiri singers including Raashid Jehangir and Firdous Ahmad showed their skills in singing the verses of the popular versifier.
The J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages (JKAACL) in collaboration with Jammu and Kashmir Bank arranged the show to provide quality entertainment to the fun lovers of Srinagar. Ghulam Nabi Dolwal’s poetry involved the audience to participate in soul soothing vocals that portrayed the message of peace, love and harmony.
Singer Raashid Jehangir combined the expressions of the traditional musical heritage of the State in naat that is linked to music traditions of the State.
Taking on the sidelines of the programme, Secretary Academy, Dr. Aziz Hajini said that artists and creative workers contribute a major role in cultural development through safeguarding the precious cultural heritage and perpetual advancement in their respective areas, adding, the regular musical programmes of JKAACL not only help preserve musical heritage of the State but also acknowledge the services of people connected to this field. Today’s musical evening started with Mohammed Siddiq Bhagat’s performance over the Kashmiri folk musical instrument – Surnai. Apart from music lover’s, galaxy of prominent citizens and litterateurs also witnessed the mesmerizing musical evening at Badamwari. The proceedings of the programme were conducted by Zahid Mukhtar. The programme series conducted under ‘Art for All’ scheme is being held on Sunday’s. Next Sunday poetry of noted Kashmiri poet of yore Niyam sahib will be sung at Badamwari by local singers.
