Jammu and Kashmir Government today said that 1,11,077 unemployed youth are registered with the different District Employment and Counselling Centres (DE&CC) of the state.
The information was dished out in response to a question by the senior PDP leader and MLC Muhammad Khurshid Aalam in the upper house of the assembly. Giving break-up, the government said the number of registered unemployed graduates is 21,921, post graduate 6,984, doctors 238, engineers 2,538, ITI trained 2,643 and others 648.

Replying to the other query by Aalam, the government said: “Under Himayat scheme, 64782 unemployed youth have been trained among which 3896 are on rolls while presently 49991 youth are undergoing the training.” It added that under the Udaan scheme, 10418 unemployed youth have been trained and among them 6149 youth were offered jobs while presently 7153 are undergoing training.
“The government has adopted fast track recruitment in government departments for filling up non-gazetted posts borne on the establishment of any department or service of the government, and such gazetted posts as maybe notified from time to time,” it said.
