First phase of Jehangir Chowk-Rambagh flyover to be completed by Oct: Govt

Government on Wednesday said the construction work on Jehangir Chowk-Rambagh flyover was going on in “full swing” and the first phase of the project—from Rambagh to Amar Singh College—will be completed by October 2017.
Economic Reconstruction Agency (ERA)—responsible for construction of the flyover—had earlier said the first phase would be thrown open for vehicular traffic in September.
Reviewing the project during a city tour, Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Baseer Ahmad Khan, said the work on the flyover is being done on double shift basis. A statement issued by the government said Khan directed officials to ensure judicious use of funds and stressed on speedy completion of the project.
The statement quoted officials as having said, “The remaining work of the flyover project (after first phase) will be completed in a fixed timeline.”
Khan asked engineers and contractors to work with added zeal and in synergy so that this prestigious project will be completed in a time bound manner.
Later, the Divisional Commissioner took on-spot review of Sonawar Park and directed the Public Health Engineering (PHE) department to complete the pipe repairing work in the park immediately. He also directed Director Floriculture to start the face-lifting work of the park on war footing basis.
Khan also visited historic Sher-e-Kashmir Park and directed the Director Floriculture to do sanitation work on daily basis besides other face-lifting works immediately so that the pristine glory of this historic park will be revived and restored.
Director Floriculture, Executive Engineer ERA, Deputy Director Planning, Officers from Police, Revenue, ERA, Floriculture and other concerned officials accompanied the Divisional Commissioner.
