DGP takes up issue with Rajasthan Police

Jammu and Kashmir police chief has taken up the issue of beating up of Kashmiri students at Vyas College of Engineering and Technology, Jodhpur by local students with the Rajasthan police.

Talking to us, DGP K Rajendra said the matter was taken up with the Rajasthan police.

“I enquired about the condition of the students with the concerned Superintendent of Police in Jodhpur in whose jurisdiction the college falls,” he said.

Dozens of Kashmiri students studying in Vyas College of Engineering and Technology, Jodhpur Rajasthan were beaten by the local students in Rajasthan during a cultural programme organized by the college authorities.

The students said the local students as well as some goons residing nearer the college entered the college and started thrashing them without any provocation.

‘’In the late evening on Thursday, when cultural programme was going on in the college premises, some local students and the local residents wearing masks entered the college premises and started beating us. Three Kashmiri students received injuries in the beating,” they said.

The Kashmiri students said after the incident, they approached the college management but no action was taken against the act of “hooliganism.’’

“Instead of taking any action against the local students, police officials misbehaved with them,” they said.

Local students said after the incident, the local policemen in the middle of the night entered the campus and misbehaved with them.

‘In the midnight, police entered in the campus and without knowing the facts started abusing us,” they said.

The students said they are facing tremendous hardships in the college campus from last few days.

Manager Vyas College of Engineering and Technology, Seema, however, said no such incident has taken place in the college premises.

“These are only rumours. No such incident had taken place in the college premises,” she said.
