“The grenade exploded on the road damaging two civilian vehicles,” CRPF spokesman Ashish Jha said. “No one was injured in the blast.”
After the attack, the police and the CRPF carried out searches in the area to trace the militants involved in the grenade attack. No militant group has so far claimed responsibility for the attack.
Though Srinagar city has been relatively peaceful, militants have carried out a few grenade attacks in the summer capital this year.
On November 5, two days ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to J&K, militants had carried out a grenade attack in Khaniyar locality in which 11 CRPF men were injured.
In July, grenades were lobbed at showrooms of two telecom companies and a mobile-phone tower, injuring a man in Srinagar.
