Milad arrangements reviewed

Arrangements for the upcoming Eid-ul-Milad celebrations were reviewed under the chairmanship of the District Development Commissioner (DDC), Srinagar, today. The meeting also reviewed arrangements for Khoja Digar prayers at the shrine of Naqashband Sahib.
Milad arrangements reviewedThe DDC reviewed arrangements being put in place to provide up to the mark services to devotees at Hazratbal, Aasar-i-Shareef Kalashpora and other shrines in the city.
The Deputy Commissioner was informed that adequate transport services to and from Hazratbal, uninterrupted power and water supply in and around shrine and medicare would be ensured by the agencies concerned.
The DDC asked the Traffic Department to streamline traffic arrangements to facilitate devotees.
The officer directed officers of the Srinagar Municipal Corporation to ensure sanitation in and around Hazratbal and other shrines.
The DDC was informed that the Srinagar Road Transport Corporation (SRTC) and private transport agencies would ply their buses on all routes of the Kashmir division in order to facilitate devotees to pay obeisance at Dargah Sharif during ‘urs’ days.
Other government agencies like the Power Development Department, Public Health and Engineering, Health, Srinagar Municipal Corporation and other allied agencies spoke during the meeting about their arrangements already finalised for the purpose.
The officials were told that Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution Department had kept a sufficient stocks of essential items, including rice, sugar, kerosene and cooking gas, available for the occasion.
The DDC said a joint control room had already started functioning at Hazratbal under the direct control of the Sub-divisional Magistrate.
The DDC directed the officers concerned to make necessary arrangements for smooth celebrations of Christmas.
