Himachal Pradesh Landslide: 6 Dead, 5 Injured in Kullu

Kullu, March 30, 2025 – A tragic landslide near the Manikaran Gurudwara in Kullu district, Himachal Pradesh, has claimed six lives and left five others injured. The incident occurred on Sunday evening, following a massive storm that uprooted trees and caused debris to collapse onto the roadside, trapping several people.

Details of the Incident

The landslide struck at approximately 5 PM near the parking area of the Gurudwara Sahib in Manikaran, a popular religious and tourist destination. Among the deceased were roadside vendors, a passenger in a Sumo vehicle, and three tourists. Eyewitnesses described the scene as chaotic, with people screaming for help as a large tree and hillside debris came crashing down.

Rescue teams, including police and fire department personnel, rushed to the site to assist with relief operations. The injured were transported to the local community hospital in Jari, where they are receiving medical treatment. Additional District Magistrate Ashwani Kumar confirmed the casualties and assured that rescue efforts are ongoing.

Warnings and Precautions

The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) had issued a yellow warning for thunderstorms accompanied by gusty winds in the region earlier this week. Authorities have now urged residents and tourists to avoid unstable areas and remain vigilant as weather conditions continue to pose risks.
