The annual Urs of Mir Syed Ali Hamadani, who is known as Shah-e-Hamadan by devotees, was observed with religious fervour today. Traffic restrictions announced on Eid-ul-Adha

The city administration today announced a “no-entry zone” for vehicular traffic on the Residency Road from Radio Kashmir to the Hari Singh High Street, which will come into force from September 21, ahead of the Eid-ul-Adha. The police said in a statement that the restrictions on traffic movement and diversions would be imposed in view of the ensuing Eid-ul-Azha as “tens of thousands of vehicles are expected to throng the city hub at Lal Chowk”. Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir, Asgar Hassan Samoon today flagged off a roadshow to sensitise people about devastating effects of drug addiction and other social evils. The ropeway that was started two years ago on the foothills of Hari Parbat in old city of Srinagar up to Sufi shrine of Makhdoom Sahib (RA) has been lying defunct for the past five months giving a tough time to devotees. Govt Releases Rs 97 Crore to Flood-Hit in Srinagar

The flood affected in Srinagar city which was the worst hit  last year have been doled out  Rs 97.48 crore by the government. The documents prepared by the office of District Magistrate Srinagar reveal that 40 deaths took place due to floods in the district with families having been given ex-gratia of Rs 60 lakhs.
