Unemployment is increasing with every passing day. Government is trying hard to counter the issue but unfortunately things are moving against the educated unemployed masses. Yes Unemployment is rising at an disturbing rate in Kashmir.
Jobless youth are finding it difficult to shape up a satisfying lifestyle and this is causing them huge suffering. What is more worrying is that the negative effects imparted by rampant unemployment are shattering the society and calling upon the government to initiate dynamic measures.
Growing drug addiction among the youth, augmentation in depression and suicidal tendencies among the youth of the state, especially kashmiri youth are disturbing realities in this regard.
Government is luring private sector to invest and work in the valley so some of the deserving youth may get jobs. The entire working of private sector in Kashmir is under scanner. Sane voices are raising genuine questions like , how many people does really get in these companies? Do we have a checkpoint / authority which monitors the process? The local youth is neglected on this or that pretext.
Once an industry / project starts in any part of the world, the local population has the major share in the employment, but here few blue eyed candidates (having an influential godfather) get in, and the rest are left to move from pillar to post.
The statistics are alarming. For any company to operate you have to provide 70:30 employment ration, but in reality we are getting just 5 – 10 (most) share in Kashmir which is gross violation of rules. Government should enforce a system to check the employment ratio. Even the working condition provided by these companies are pathetic to say the least.
The private sector, which provides nine out of 10 jobs in developing countries has miserably failed in our context.The need of the hour is to have a tough regulatory mechanism that checks the working and efficiency of private sector in Kashmir as it is turning yet other parasite abetting brain drain.
