Jawahar Nagar residents resent ‘loot of public property’The residents of Jawahar Nagar area have strongly objected to the order of Director School Education for framing a school committee with entire members from a single class. They also objected to changing the name of “DAV institute Jawahar Nagar/Magermal Bagh/Wazir bagh” to “DAV Public Secondary School”.
As per the order number 2019-DSEK of 2015 dated 4-7-15, counter signed also by then Joint Director School Education, Dr Abid Shah, the subject has been written as “Managing committee of DAV Public secondary School Jawahar Nagr, Srinagar.”
The order legitimizes a managing committee for the school with Chairman as TK Ganjoo, General Secretary as Davender Koul, Joint secretary as RR Koul, advisor as Anil Kumar, and members: MK Mam, Khem Lata Dhar, PL Raina, Yudhvir Sethi, Ashok Koul, lalit Kachroo, Surinder Singh, Veena Warikoo and Surinder Ambardar.
The residents alleged, “DAV Institute possesses lands and buildings worth crores which is owned by government and the same is sought to be misappropriated by a group of persons by floating a managing committee entirely comprising of members of one single family.” The tenure of the managing committee is for two years.
The order reads, “The management shall be responsible for safeguard and maintenance of building and land of the school and will use moveable and immoveable property of the school only for purpose of running the school.” They have appealed the Chief Minister and Present Director School Education to personally intervene in the “loot of public property”.
