Suspected militants on Thursday night attacked a police post in a remote area of Udhampur district of Jammu and Kashmir. As per reports, the attack took place in Basantgarh area in which two special police officers (SPOs) were injured. Reports also said that additional forces were being rushed to the spot. Identify land in Jammu and Srinagar for AIIMS: Centre to J&K govt

The Centre has asked the Jammu and Kashmir government to identify 200 acres of land each for Jammu and Srinagar for “setting up of AIIMS” in the state. In his letter to state, a senior Union Health Ministry official has stated that in view of “expediting” the process of establishment of AIIMS, two teams have been constituted to finalise the sites and the state government has been advised to identify pieces of land measuring 200 acres each in both Jammu and Srinagar. Days after the daring terror attack in Punjab’s Gurdaspur, some unidentified militants attacked the BSF convoy in Jammu and Kashmir in the wee hours of Wednesday. Police detained 15 protesters on Monday, the fourth day of the Jammu bandh called by the AIIMS Coordination Committee (ACC), demanding a notification to set up an All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in the Jammu region. Flash floods hit Kupwara and Leh Areas

Flash floods hit two regions of Jammu and Kashmir on Monday, causing heavy damage, police said. An official said that the floods caused massive extensive damage in Leh region of Ladakh division. He said Brenwari area of frontier district of Kupwara was also hit by flash floods early today. However, there was no immediate report of any casualties.
