After 10 days of summer vacation, the schools across Kashmir reopened on Monday amid humid weather.
The schools were closed on July 19 for a 10-day summer break and were scheduled to reopen on July 30.
On Monday morning, the city witnessed traffic jams as school buses were back on roads see plied during the rush hour.
Following rumours on the social media that the school break might be extended, the department of school education on Sunday evening issued a circular, asking teachers and students to attend the schools on Monday. “There was good attendance in both private and public schools. Normal activities resumed in all institutions,” said an official of the department of education.
On Monday morning, students looked excited to attend their classes after the break. The weather, however, continued to be hot and humid.
“The weather was hot but it was necessary to resume classes as we don’t get many working days. We appeal to the authorities to ask the schools to improve infrastructure and install air conditioners in the school buses and in schools so that the students do not have to face any problems,” said Mohsin Ahmad, a student of Class IX.
