National Conference questions Centre’s silence over Kashmir

National Conference questions Centre's silence over KashmirThe National Conference (NC) questioned the Centre’s silence over the ongoing crisis in Kashmir, which entered its 26th day on Wednesday.

“Two more protestors killed last night. The CM [Mehbooba Mufti] still wants to behave as though it’s business as usual but why is the Centre oblivious?” tweeted NC working president and former J&K chief minister Omar Abdullah.

The NC’s spokesperson Junaid Azim Mattu also criticized Ms. Mufti for her “obtuse remarks and shocking insensitivity”.

“Ms. Mufti has left no stone unturned to vilify and provoke the agitating youth and this has compounded the problem. There was a targeted killing from point-blank range of a civilian in Srinagar. This is a direct result of Mehbooba’s statements,” said Mr. Mattu.

He expressed disappointment and anguish “at the Centre’s evident lack of concern over the killings of young civilians in the Valley” and termed this behaviour as an unprecedented and highly dangerous approach that could have very adverse far-reaching implications on peace and stability in the region.
