Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front Chairman Muhammad Yasin Malik Friday said that PDP’s plan of seeking votes against RSS was actually to grab power to choke space for Kashmir’s pro-freedom camp. He was quick to add that “PDP has provided an
easy entry to RSS in the valley and to crush freedom sentiment, but the resolve of people will defeat all such plans.”
Addressing Friday congregation at Polo View (Bund) Masjid here, Malik reminded the people of the statements of PDP leaders including Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti during her election campaign. “Do you remember on what basis they (PDP) sought votes? They told us people should vote for them so that RSS is kept at bay. What happened later, they allowed RSS to enter into the Kashmir at its own will. They formed government with RSS,” the JKLF chief said. “See the condition of our Muslim brethren in Jammu. They are feeling most insecure.”
He said Kashmiri students and businessmen studying and working in various parts of India are living under constant fear.
Malik said that PDP’s anti-RSS rant in election days was a well thought out plan to grab votes. “Now if we analyze their period of rule, its full of oppression. There is no space for pro-freedom camp. We are not even allowed to offer funeral prayers for our leaders, instead we are being lodged in police stations,” Malik said. He said that there seems to be a well-crafted plan of the ruling PDP-BJP dispensation that “separatists should not be allowed to communicate with people.”
“Recently when five civilians were killed in forces’ firing in Handwara, we were detained and put under custody in police stations and not even allowed to express condolence with the families of slain youth,” Malik said. He said it was evident that PDP-BJP government was following the directive of Union Finance Minister ArunJaitley, who recently asserted that “our coalition in J&K was formed to fight the separatists.”
Paying rich tributes to JKLF founder Late Amanullah Khan, Malik said that Khan was a great leader with full commitment to his ideology. “He spent his entire life for his cause. Today we see very active Kashmiri Diaspora in United Kingdom and elsewhere in Europe. The credit goes to Khan for that as he spent some years of his life abroad and put in his best to mobilize Kashmiris in a bid to garner outside support for the freedom struggle of Kashmir,” the JKLF chief said. “The kind of romanticism Khan had is very difficult to find again. He was committed to his ideology of freedom of Kashmir till his last breath. He even sold his entire property for the cause.”
He said Khan’s ideology was free Kashmir. “In a free nation, there is always a sense of belonging among its youth and citizens. In a conflict situation, youth become the prime target as they feel highly insecure and choked,” Malik said.
Later, funeral prayers in absentia were held in which a huge number of people participated. The prayers were led by JKLF leader Altaf Ahmed. Similar prayers were also held at GawKadal after Friday prayers.
