The Kashmir valley today observed a shutdown in response to a call given by separatist militants and politicians to protest the 1947 landing of the Army in the region. Major markets in Srinagar, including Lal Chowk and its adjacent commercial localities, remained closed. J&K govt cracks the whip on private tuitions by govt teachers

J&K government on Tuesday ordered a “blanket ban” on private tuitions by government school teachers, while directing the authorities to form “crack teams” for a strict implementation of the order. “All the Chief Education Officers (CEOs) are directed to ensure that there is total prohibition on the practice of private tuitions by government officials,” Director School Education, Jammu, Smita Sethi said here.
