Sabzar Ahmad Bhat, who succeeded Hizbul Mujahideen commander Burhan Wani, was killed in an encounter with government forces in Jammu and Kashmir on Saturday. Bhat was among eight militants killed in two separate gunfights in north and south Kashmir.
