Covid19: Kashmir reports the highest single-day spike of 583 cases, Govt declares 8 districts as red zones

By – Tahaa Yaseen Kashmir reported 583 coronavirus cases, its highest single-day spike, taking the total caseload in J&K to 4,050, officials said on Sunday. Baramulla reported the highest number of cases with 132 followed by Srinagar 87, Pulwama 60, Anantnag 59, Shopian 24, Bandipora 21, Budgam 18, Ganderbal 14, and Kupwara 7. Among the fresh cases are nearly 100 pregnant ladies, with public health experts indicating community spread of the contagion. #Coronavirus: As lockdown enters 13th-day, 26 Areas across J&K declared as ‘Red Zones’

Amid continuing lockdown and restrictions for the 13th consecutive day, the government Tuesday declared 26 areas in Jammu and Kashmir as “red zones” in view of the surge in coronavirus cases in the Union Territory. According to Directorate of Information and Public Relations, Mehjoor Nagar, Natipora, Lal Bazar, Eidgah and Shalteng areas in Srinagar district and Chadoora in Budgam district and Waskura in Ganderbal district of central Kashmir have been declared as “Red Zones”.
