Jobs go scarce as unemployment rate soars across J&K

Two separate reports on unemployment have placed J&K among the worst performers in job creation. According to the Centre for Monitoring Indian Economy (CMIE) figures, J&K has 16.2 percent unemployment rate, which is the second worst among states/union territories in India. Cabinet approves 3,375 posts for five medical colleges

The state government today accorded sanction to the creation of 3,375 posts of various categories for five new medical colleges to be established in various districts. The Cabinet approved 2,025 posts for medical colleges at Rajouri, Baramulla and Anantnag and creation of 1,350 posts to be operative in the financial year 2018-19 for medical colleges of Kathua and Doda, once they are sanctioned by the competent authority. The government said that 1410 selections were made by Public Service Commission (PSC) and 19,470 by Service Selection Board (SSB) during past three years. “During the current year, PSC made 256 selections and SSB 1752,” the government said.
