No proposal to keep schools open during winters : DSEK

Winter vacations on time

Director School Education Kashmir (DSEK) Aijaz Ahmad Bhat Monday cleared the air regarding winter vacations saying the winter vacations will be announced at appropriate time and government has no proposal to keep the schools open during winters.
“Winter vacations would be announced at the appropriate time,” DSEK told Kashmir Post.
He said there is no proposal to keep the schools open during winter months.
“The news reports regarding winter vacations being cancelled by the government aren’t true,” Bhat said.
The DSEK, however, said the department will conduct classes under “Super-50 free coaching initiative” for the students.
“The students wishing to attend these classes will have to get themselves registered. The super 50 initiative is in continuation with the one conducted by the department last year,” he said.
Mukhtar Ahmad, an academician from Pulwama, said he had heard that there won’t be winter vacations in schools this winter. “I was wondering how will students go to schools during winter and how will teachers teach them under extreme cold weather conditions in school.”
He said the government announcement that they have no proposal to keep schools open during winters is a welcome step.
Meanwhile, Private Schools Association Kashmir (PSAK) is also trying to build a consensus on winter vacations.
President PSAK G.N Var told Kashmir Post that they had called meeting of all our heads today.
“We still haven’t come to a consensus whether to demand cancellation of winter vacations or support it. Once we reach to any conclusion, we will approach the authorities with our proposal,” he said.
