Reiterating his appeal to the people to strictly follow the joint program of the pro-freedom leadership, the Hurriyat Conference (G) chairman Syed Ali Geelani on Wednesday said, “The dozens of secret agencies are employed here to sabotage our movement by different means.”
“These agencies will spend millions of dollars to buy the people’s sentiments but we have to defeat their plans and carry on the mission of our martyrs,” Geelani said while he left his residence today to participate in Kulgam Chalo programme.
“But he (Geelani) was immediately arrested by the large contingent of police who were already present there to stop him from moving out of his residence,” the spokesman said.
“ Kashmir struggle doesn’t belong to any particular section or the sect but it is a joint movement of the all the people of this disputed region. Our peaceful programs are being dealt with extreme force and pressure by the forces and they themselves vitiate the peaceful atmosphere in the state and then accuse the pro-freedom leadership and the youth of Kashmir of subverting the peace. The region of Jammu & Kashmir is presenting a view of a major prison where people are suffering at the hands of the Indian forces and the police. The hollow democratic claims of India stand completely exposed in Kashmir where the government forces have been deployed to suppress every such voice or concern which is raised for the interest of the people of the state. Today I was scheduled to visit the Kulgam district just to lead a peaceful march to pay homage to the innocent martyrs but the state administration as usual used force to stop me from visiting there,” the spokesman quoted Geelani as saying while addressing media persons on the occasion, adding that “To hide its atrocities and the state terrorism in Kashmir, India is making the unsuccessful attempts to link the peaceful and indigenous struggle of the Kashmiris with the Pakistan and terrorism.”
Geelani said New Delhi was using the policy of ‘accuse and kill’ in Kashmir because it knew that the Jammu & Kashmir was slipping from its hands. “The wicked policies of India have now got exposed on the international levels and the voices are now being raised from everywhere in the world in support of the Kashmir and against the barbarism of Indian forces in the region. The concerns are being shown on the international levels that if the Kashmir dispute is not resolved soon in the near future, it will trigger a destructive war in the South Asian region,” Geelani said, appealing people to remain vigilant against the pro-Indian people who are always looking for a chance to give communal color to their freedom struggle.
“Don’t let them hijack the mission of our martyrs in any way and keep a strict watch over those elements in the society. The right to freedom is everybody’s right in Jammu & Kashmir and the participation of every section of the society and the sect will send a message across India and the world that Kashmir is not the any communal issue nor is it any border issue between India and Pakistan. It is the fight for freedom equally for the Muslims, Hindus, Sikhs, Buddhists and Christians of the state,” Geelani said, adding that “I appeal all the brave heart youths of Kashmir particularly from Tral and its adjoining areas to remain vigilant and don’t let any such conspiracy succeed which is aimed to vitiate the atmosphere of communal brotherhood.”
