Technical snag hits Aadhaar registration

As many as 400 operators out of 638 have been blacklisted due to a system error in the software of the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI).
Technical snag hits Aadhaar registrationThough the state government has set a deadline of March 31 to ensure that all employees as well as daily wagers, casual and seasonal labourers working in various departments under the state government enrol themselves under Aadhaar, the technical snag in the software has stopped the registration process at 200 centres in the state.
On February 1, thesoftware version 3.10 of the UIDAI has blacklisted 400 Aadhaar card enrolment operators.
Chander Shekhar Saproo, Joint Director, Census Operations, J&K, told KP, “The software had developed a technical snag at the UIDAI in which the Urdu translation of details on Aadhaar enrolment was faulty. Later, it blacklisted 400 operators in Jammu and Kashmir.”
“The Chief Secretary (CS) has reviewed the process today and directed the UIDAI to restore the software within 24 hours,” he added.
The Jammu and Kashmir Government had earlier said that salaries of all government employees from April 1 would be paid on the basis of Aadhaar enrolment.
As per official data with the Registrar General of India (RGI), about 84,00,233 persons had been enrolled and Aadhaar cards been issued to 67,69,272 persons in the state.
After completion of the first phase of enrolment, the Registrar General of India (RGI) had installed 319 centres across the state.
As per Census 2011, the total Aadhaar penetration as on February 2, 2016, stood at 55 per cent of the total population of the state.
