Unemployment real challenge for J&K Government – Mufti Sayeed

Unemployment Real Challenge for J&K Government - Mufti SayeedJammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed today said that unemployment was the real challenge faced by his government, which is committed to complete the process of recruiting educated unemployed youths in time.

“Unemployment is the real challenge faced by the government. All recruitment will be sped up and made in a fair, transparent and time-bound manner,” Mr Sayeed said in the Legislative Council during Question Hour.

“Immediately after coming to power, the government strengthened the institutions by appointing persons of integrity in PSC and SSB so that vacancies are filled up on a fast-track basis,” he said.

Recruitment of educated unemployed is an ongoing process and will take some time. There will be no delay in it, he said.

On the issue of casual appointments in government departments, Mr Sayeed told the House that his government did not appoint “even a single person on ad hoc basis”.

On acquiring additional land for expansion of Jammu Airport, he said, “It has been my concern since 2002 and I will take up the matter with the defence minister so that the issue is settled expeditiously.”

The issue was discussed at Civil Military Liaison meeting following which it was decided that the Army and the Civil Administration will exchange land for expansion of the airport, Mr Sayeed said.

“Jammu Airport is choked due to space constraint and immediate expansion was needed to ensure safety and comfort of the passengers,” the chief minister said.
